San Luis is the oldest town in Colorado but way off the beaten path. That's the way the Inn feels. Being off season, we had the whole place, if not the whole town, to ourselves. Nonetheless, the rooms are large and well appointed, the bathrooms clean but very basic and the host very pleasant and accommodating -- be sure to get the Wi-Fi password before she leaves for the day. And no credit cards. It's still the 50s here in San Luis. Simple. Nice.

This is certainly not fancy, but it is quaint and very welcoming. My room had two queen beds, but there was definitely room for a queen-sized air mattress... maybe two! Private bath. The room was clean and tidy, and I loved the feeling of being in this historic building- once a Sisters of Mercy Convent. It's not air conditioned but the building is always cool and the ceiling fans make staying cool easy. There is no prepared breakfast, but you have kitchen privileges and you can eat inexpensively. The Parish runs the establishment, and the staff is welcoming, gracious and helpful.||If you are visiting the Shrine at San Luis or just passing through, this is a gem.

Quedamos muy contentos con nuestra estadía en El Convento Inn. San Luis es la localidad más antigua de Colorado y se nota su peso tradicional. El Convento tiene cuartos muy amplios y de mobiliario antiguo. La higiene es excelente y todo funciona muy bien. Mantiene u carácter tradicional.

We were told by the lady who took our reservaton that (1) it was a converted convent - a room with two double beds, that (2) she would meet us between 6 and 7:00 pm the day of our arrival and (3) that a local lady would be providing us a "great" breakfast - "the best" - the next morning. The only accurate information was number 1. There was nobody there to meet us. After asking the help of two local residents, we eventually found a man (WITHOUT customer service or hospitality skills) coming out of the rectory across the street. After some uncomfortable back and forth we realized that he was going to be checking us in and fixing us a SMALL breakfast the next morning. It was comparable to staying in a budget motel with a continental breakfast. We paid $70 but felt it was only worth about $50. At least the room was clean!
